Kathy Carriker, Dripping Springs
Kathy Carriker is a retired educator. Having taught lower elementary for 23 years, she has experienced first hand how children are affected by dysfunctional family life. She worked closely with counselors and other advocates to help the children in her classroom who were going through various crises in their families.
Kathy served on the board of Texas Rural Communities for nine years. TRC provided grants for rural business entrepreneurs. TRC also ran a successful student loan program for students in rural Texas.
Kathy now is an active volunteer with various organizations in the Dripping Springs area and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary group of women educators. She and her husband, Steve, have three grown children and two active grandsons.
Rebecca Hatch, Buda
Rebecca Hatch is a graduate of Texas Tech University. After a lengthy career in state government and church administrative work she now works with her husband in his successful political consulting and economic development company. Rebecca and her family have lived in the Buda/northern Hays County area for over 15 years. She has been active in many local civic organizations such as the Hays HS, Dahlstrom Middle School, and Elm Grove elementary PTAs, the Buda United Methodist Church administrative board, the Hays Praise Emmaus Board and others. Rebecca and her husband John have 3 children who are students in Hays CISD.
Nora Linares-Moeller, Wimberley
Linares-Moeller's civic and political achievements include service in government and as a self-employed consultant. Under the direction of Linares-Moeller as the first Executive Director of the Texas Lottery Commission, the Lottery achieved international prominence through its record-breaking $3.4 billion dollar fiscal year. In 1997, Linares-Moeller started an international consulting company specializing in gaming technologies, management efficiencies, project implementation and fundraising for non-profits and political candidates.
As a community volunteer, Linares-Moeller serves on the Board of Directors of Ballet Austin, the Sally M. Kingsbury Sarcoma Research Foundation Inc., in addition to the Friends of the Family Justice Center. She also serves as a National Board Member of the La Union del Pueblo Entero (LUPE) organization (founded by Cesar Chavez.)
Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Linares-Moeller received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976 from Southwest Texas State University (SWTSU), now Texas State University. She is a 1989 graduate of Leadership Texas and a 1990 graduate of Leadership America. Linares-Moeller currently resides in Wimberley, TX with her husband Michael Moeller.
Suzanne Perkins, San Marcos
Suzanne Perkins is owner of Cool Mint Café, San Marcos, Texas. Following a 14 year career as general manager for destination resorts on the west coast, she attended Western Culinary Institute to pursue her passion for food and catering. As the creator of Suzanne's Ritzy Rollups, she packaged and sold a frozen appetizer product nationwide creating a business from concept to $13 million in sales in 5 years.
She has successfully niched Cool Mint with the "farm to table" concept to a values based clientele looking for full corporate responsibility which includes serving nutrient rich, natural and organic quality products, energy efficiencies, reuse & recycling, community and social support. Cool Mint Café received the 2010 Small Green Business of the Year award from San Marcos Chamber of Commerce.
Commander Penny Dunn, San Marcos
Commander Dunn started her law enforcement career in 1986 and has served with the San Marcos Police Department since 1989. Commander Dunn has served in several areas of law enforcement, including: patrol, narcotics, training, and the criminal investigations division. In 2004 Commander Dunn started the first full-time dedicated Crime Victim Services Unit in Hays County at the San Marcos Police Department. She has been qualified in State District Court and County Court-at-Law as an expert in domestic violence investigations and is the project director for the Family Justice Center (see www.haysfriends.org). Commander Dunn serves as past-president board member for the Village of San Marcos (a group of non-profit entities serving San Marcos, Hays County, see www.villagecampus.org) and is a board member for the Friends of the Family Justice Center Foundation. Commander Dunn's current assignment in the Criminal Investigation Division includes the supervision of the Property Crimes Unit, Crimes Against Persons Unit, Evidence Section, Crime Victim Services Unit, and the Collision Investigation Team that is responsible for investigations of traffic fatalities.
Penny has been recognized for her public service achievements by receiving the following: The Community Builder Award from the Masonic Lodge of Texas in 2009, The Armstead Memorial Leadership Award from Texas State University in 2009, The 100 Club of Central Texas as Officer of the Year in 2006, The Texas Women in Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 1993, Achievement Award from the International Association of Women Police in 1993, and is a recipient of five Distinguished Service Awards and one Police Commendation from the San Marcos Police Department. Penny and her partner Chris have two teenage children that are very active in sports and Scouting.
Roya Williamson, Kyle
Roya Williamson started her position as Victim Services Coordinator with the San Marcos Police Department in June 2007. She serves on the Board of The Friends of the Family Justice Center and the Village of San Marcos. She is a member of the Hays County SART, MCOT and the SMPD/HCSO Crisis Negotiation Team. Prior to her employment with the Police Department, she served the San Marcos and Hays County community as the Assistant Director of the Hays Caldwell Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
Roya Williamson holds a masters degree in psychology and is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with over 20 years experience in the mental health field
